The Opportunity We are are seeking a talented and commercially minded junior associate with 2-4 years’ practical experience to join our Hamburg-based team. The position requires qualification as a Solicitor in England and Wales, the United States, Australia or another common law jurisdiction. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven lawyer to join a practice at the cutting edge of the global energy transition, working on cross-border mandates with a highly regarded and collegial team. The successful candidate will advise on a broad range of matters, including the development and structuring of energy and decarbonisation projects, commercial contracting, and project finance transactions across international markets with a particular focus on the EMEA region. The key responsibilities of the position include: advising developers, sponsors, investors and lenders on the development of a variety of energy projects, including offshore and onshore wind, solar, green hydrogen, battery storage, sustainable aviation fuel, e-fuels, carbon capture and storage, as well as traditional oil and gas and petrochemicals projects, and related infrastructure (including terminals, ports, storage and transmission); drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of project development and commercial contracts, including development agreements, EPC and O&M contracts, supply agreements, offtake arrangements and joint venture agreements; supporting on project finance transactions by preparing bankable project documentation and conducting lender due diligence; advising on contractual risk allocation, regulatory considerations and project structuring across multiple jurisdictions; liaising directly with clients, counterparties and local counsel on cross-border transactions; and contributing to business development initiatives, including client briefings, pitches and knowledge management.
