The Director of Revenue supervises the billing and accounts receivable teams, and coordinates and processes standard and nonstandard legal billing and collections based on Firm policies. This role will interact and liaison with Attorneys/LAA’s and/or Upper Management to ensure prompt and accurate processing of bills and collections of receivables. Direct reports include a billing manager and accounts receivable manager. Duties/Responsibilities Billing Operations Coordinates new billing procedures and assists in training of Administrative employees to improve attorney/client satisfaction. Establishes and documents procedures for special billing arrangements and client requests. Reviews special documents requested by clients such as invoice summaries, electronic ledes files, spreadsheet reconciliation’s, formula charts and budgets. Resolves billing transaction issues, billing rates, cost exceptions, or other complex billing matters. Takes appropriate corrective action necessary to expedite bills including knowledge of daily time entry and the matter intake process. Multi-tasks priorities and delegates assignments during month-end closings. Produces month-end correspondence. Reviews current processes and ensures or establishes best practices for optimal efficiency. Collaborates with the A/R function to review WIP and outstanding A/R items. Understanding of bill rate structure across clients and matters; annual review of billing rates; maintenance of rates throughout the year. May perform other duties as assigned, including special projects. Serves as backup to all billing functions. Accounts Receivable Evaluates and improves the effectiveness of collection policies. Prepare monthly/quarterly reports on status of credit and collections. Meet with management to discuss details quarterly, or as needed. Perform other duties that may be assigned. Other Functions Perform month-end duties as it relates to billing and collections. On boarding / off boarding of timekeepers Matter maintenance and intake – understand intake process as it relates to Aderant (accounting system); review client/matter set-ups; closing of stale matters Understanding how the various accounting systems (Aderant, iTimekeep, Expert Collections, Bill Blast, etc.) function and interact with each other General analysis of complex billing and accounts receivable issues. Experience Five years of experience in a law firm billing/accounts receivable department of similar professional services environment. Two years of staff supervision required. Strong knowledge of rates, ABA task codes, budgets and the ability to handle all bill types. Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and familiarity with Windows based applications. Expert understanding of the client accounting functions within financial system (Aderant). Education Associate degree or equivalent experience required. This role can be based in Boston, Hartford, New York, Stamford, or Providence. NY Applicants: Please note that the target base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $170,000. Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's years of experience, skills, qualifications, and office location.
