The Paralegal will assist attorney(s) by providing the management of residential foreclosure files, and the orderly preparation of necessary court filings and tracking of the residential foreclosure process for loans in the State of Iowa. Duties/Responsibilities Handle initial intake of referrals, including loan documents from client. Order necessary reports and searches for foreclosure process, as well as review title reports to ensure clear title or any title issues. Prepare required correspondence to borrower. Prepare customary foreclosure pleadings to be filed with the Courts from petition, through summary judgment to final judgment and sale of the property, including post sale documents. Keep log on status of all files to share with attorney and client. Routinely communicate with client providing status updates on foreclosure milestone completion. Routinely communicate with county sheriff’s, recorder and clerk’s offices. Update firm’s case management system as well as any required investor or client sites. Complete military and bankruptcy searches. Provide fees and cost amounts to firm’s accounting department as well as client for billing of files. Understand and follow all client and investor foreclosure requirements. Locate information on potential defendants for service of process and deal with service issues on defendants. Additional duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills. Energetic, organized, detail-oriented and disciplined, with the willingness to work hard. Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. Ability to manage workflow and work under tight deadlines and other time constraints, with competing and shifting priorities. Strong project management and organizational skills. Strong analytical skills, technical aptitude, critical thinking, analytical and customer service skills. Familiarity with preparation and filing of pleadings in Iowa courts. Education and Experience Two-year degree with relative experience in real estate, legal field.
