Posted on July 7, 2022 Dentons Davis Brown is currently recruiting for a Real Estate Paralegal/Coordinator to be based in our Ames office. The Real Estate Paralegal will research law, investigate facts and prepare documents to assist Real Estate attorneys by performing the below stated duties. Duties/Responsibilities Assist real estate attorney in all facets of real estate transactions, and related transactions. Receive closing orders and initiate file opening process. Confirm balances for each closing transaction and process check requests, ensuring proper accounting entries and procedures. CD/SD/ALTA preparation. E-filling on Iowa Land Records. Review abstracts and prepare preliminary title opinions and Title Guaranty Certificates for final review by attorneys. Review closed files and prepare final title opinions and Title Guaranty Certificates for final review by attorneys. Locate file and abstracts, review preliminary title opinion and check against abstract to ensure that all exceptions have been satisfied. Review Title Guaranty check amounts and obtain corrected checks, if necessary. Coordinate or obtain releases and check judgments or affidavits. Clear liens and prepare files for settlement and prepare settlement statements. Prepare various types of documents including, purchase agreements, conveyance documents, HOA collections notices, landlord-tenant notices, and transaction closing/settlement statements. Organize and maintain multiple files. Facilitate and attend closings in and out of the office. Additional duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills Energetic, organized, detail-oriented and disciplined, with the willingness to work hard Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team Ability to manage workflow and work under tight deadlines and other time constraints, with competing and shifting priorities Strong project management and organizational skills Strong analytical skills, technical aptitude, critical thinking, analytical and customer service skills Strong math/accounting abilities and skills with Excel spreadsheets Education and Experience Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required, Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred. Some related experience preferred. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
