The role focuses on representing owners, developers, general contractors, construction managers, specialty trade and subcontractors, design professionals, and sureties in both transactional and dispute-related matters. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction litigation and disputes; exposure to construction contracts and transactional work is strongly preferred. Candidates with a commercial litigation background and an interest in learning the transactional side of construction law are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities • Draft, review, and negotiate construction-related agreements, including owner, general contractor, construction manager, subcontractor, and related access or neighboring property agreements • Advise clients on construction-related issues, including contract interpretation, scope of work disputes, delay claims, extra work claims, mechanic’s liens, and bond claims • Support construction litigation and dispute matters, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery materials • Participate in written discovery, including document review and responses • Take and defend depositions and assist with hearings, trials, and ADR proceedings • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda across construction and construction-adjacent practice matters • Collaborate with partners and attorneys across construction and construction-adjacent practice areas Qualifications • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school • License to practice law in good standing in New York • 2-4 years of experience in construction litigation, construction law, or commercial litigation with exposure to construction-related matters • Experience with construction contracts and transactional work not required but preferred • Ability to manage multiple matters and work independently while collaborating with partners and attorneys • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact directly with clients and counterparties • Experience with labor or employment issues related to construction projects is a plus Salary $140-180K DOE In addition to our competitive salary, we offer an excellent benefit package, including medical, HSA, Flexible Spending Plan, 401(k) with an employer match and paid vacation.
