Associate Attorney – Complex Civil Litigation – Immediate Hire

Joseph Greenwald and Laake PA (“JGL”), a law firm serving Washington DC and the suburban Maryland area, seeks to immediately hire a civil litigation associate. Types of complex civil cases handled by this department include civil rights, class action, commercial litigation, complex administrative litigation, sexual abuse and Title IX cases, to name a few. This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-paced, sophisticated complex civil litigation department in one of Maryland’s preeminent law firms, and to get immediate, significant litigation experience. The ideal candidate has: A passion for Plaintiff’s work, victim’s rights and access to justice; Ability to thrive working alone as well as in a team; 3-5 years of complex civil litigation experience in Maryland courts; A strong work ethic; Excellent research, writing and communication skills; Ability to manage cases commensurate with experience; Ability to juggle multiple cases simultaneously; and Job duties include, but are not limited to: Day-to-day management of civil litigation cases; Complex legal analysis, research and writing; Case intake and evaluation; Managing and executing all aspects of discovery; Taking and defending depositions; Attending settlement conferences and engaging in settlement discussions; Trial work in Maryland and DC state and federal courts; and Handling appeals in Maryland state and federal courts. Legal assistant, paralegal, law clerk and senior mentor support provided. Candidates must be a member in good standing of the Maryland Bar; Candidates must also be a member in good standing of the DC Bar or be eligible and willing to waive into the DC Bar immediately.
