The Staff Counsel supports WTO trial and appellate lawyers in a variety of areas, including drafting briefs and conducting legal research. Candidates must have exemplary research and writing skills and a strong academic background. The ideal candidate will have a passion for litigation research and writing, prior experience as a litigation associate, well-rounded credentials, and a demonstrated record of excellence (3+ years of experience is preferred). Experience with drafting briefs of significance is necessary, including summary judgment, expert challenges under Daubert or other state standards, and motions to dismiss. This is an hourly (non-exempt) attorney position that is eligible for overtime pay. This is a non-partnership track position. RESPONSIBILITIES Perform factual and legal research and analysis Draft and review motions, briefs, and other legal documents Advise partners or associates regarding controlling law and legal strategy through email summaries, research memoranda, or in person meetings or calls May perform other duties as assigned JOB REQUIREMENTS Juris Doctor degree Admitted to practice law or has a path to admission in the State of Colorado Three or more years of prior associate-level experience in law firm or corporate setting Strong aptitude to learning new technology Excellent time management and organizational skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Takes initiative and ownership and commits to the position GENERAL This is a full-time position which may be either fully remote or hybrid in our Denver office (based on candidate preference). Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the hourly pay rate when the employee works more than 37.5 hours in a Sunday through Saturday work week. The hourly pay rate for this position is between $85 - $91/hour and is commensurate with experience. The ability to communicate orally with co-workers and management is critical, as is regular use of phone and email for communication. Hearing and vision correctable to within normal ranges is necessary for normal conversations, receiving information, and preparing or inspecting documents. Staff Counsel must be able to use a computer while sitting for extended periods.
