SEATTLE NEW LIFE FELLOWSHIP
Role: Associate Pastor
Classification: Full-Time
Hours expected: 40-55 hrs/week (hit 50-60 hrs/wk during events & programs)
Congregation Size: 600-700
POSITION OVERVIEW
New Life Fellowship is looking for an Associate Pastor who will help shepherd the congregation through pastoral care, teaching, leadership development, and missions engagement. The associate Pastor will support and help create ministry pathways that invite our church community to grow as disciples of Jesus and participate in God’s mission locally and globally. This role requires someone who can lead with humility and excellence, build healthy teams, care for people in different life stages, and align ministry efforts with New Life’s vision and values.
PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Missions Leadership, Teaching and Engagement (70%)
Cast vision and provide direction for the Missions ministry, aligning with New Life’s mission to make disciples.
Identify, develop, and maintain partnerships with local ministries and global missionaries.
Travel to visit and support missionaries, strengthening relationships and creating new missional opportunities for engagement for the congregation.
Develop and lead pathways for local, regional, and global outreach.
Lead and oversee short-term leaders and trips.
Integrate missions into the life of the church (weekend services, testimonies, events).
Create and lead Alpha Teams 2x per year, hosted at the church or in the Seattle area, as an entry point for evangelism and discipleship.
Oversee our Experience Team, teach classes as needed and be part of our Adult Life ministry.
Preach, teach, preside, and share updates on initiatives as needed.
Team Leadership & Volunteer Development (25%)
Multiply volunteer teams and core leadership within the ministry.
Recruit, train, and develop leaders for outreach, Alpha, and other mission initiatives.
Shepherd team members through pastoral care.
Foster a culture of evangelism, discipleship and servant leadership.
Equip the church to confidently share their faith and engage in mission.
Administration & Development (15%)
Manage the ministry budget and oversee allocation of resources.
Provide oversight and communication for all missions initiatives and partnerships.
Invest relationally in volunteers (~4x/week), host appreciation and vision gatherings.
Receive and lead tactical planning and spiritual development meetings.
Participate in ongoing professional development (conferences, training, coaching).
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Character:
Above reproach in character and conduct (Titus 1:6–9; 1 Tim. 3:2).
Mature in faith, humble in demeanor, and self-aware.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Competence:
Proven ability to lead and develop teams, especially in outreach and mission focused environments.
Experience in evangelism, discipleship pathways, and/or cross-cultural ministry.
Ability to build and sustain partnerships with local ministries and global missionaries.
Skilled in organizing and leading initiatives.
Able to cast vision and mobilize people into meaningful engagement.
Comfortable teaching, sharing vision, and communicating across various settings.
Ability to lead cross-life stage ministries (young adult, families, and empty nesters)
Culture:
Self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
Desire to keep learning and growing.
Heart for evangelism, discipleship and expanding the church's mission.
Desire to be part of a team, rather than a solo leader.
PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS
Present at all weekend services (excluding approved vacation).
Attend all-staff meetings, regular office hours, and retreats.
Pursue personal spiritual growth through Scripture, prayer, and Godly community.
Pursue professional growth and development through coaching and reading.
Work collaboratively and in harmony with the full staff team.
Affirm and abide by New Life’s constitution, bylaws, and theological positions.
Member at New Life, or willing to become one.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
+5 years of ministry experience.
Supervision: Reports to the Executive Pastor
Total Compensation: $64,450 - $101,100 (salary and health)
