Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Family Law / Litigation Associate with 3–5+ years of family law and litigation experience. The ideal candidate will be an Illinois‑licensed attorney with courtroom experience, strong case‑ownership skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced practice.
This role is ideal for someone who is meticulous, proactive, and eager to serve as a true “utility player” within the practice. Our team operates in a collaborative, client-focused environment that values initiative, professionalism, and high-quality work.
What You Will Do:
Manage family law matters from start to finish, including:
Drafting pleadings and motion practice
Handling court appearances independently
Managing discovery and preparing subpoenas
Independently driving all aspects of divorce matters
Take full ownership of assigned files.
Conduct and defend depositions.
Independently manage client communication, expectations, and strategy.
Support non-matrimonial litigation and real estate matters (approximately 20–25% of workload).
Work closely with senior attorneys for guidance while demonstrating growing autonomy.
Effectively manage up and contribute to a collaborative, high‑performing team environment.
What You Will Need:
Active Illinois Bar license and good standing.
3–5+ years of family law / litigation experience.
Courtroom experience required.
Strong writing and analytical skills.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow‑through.
Strong client‑management and client relationship skills and the ability to handle matters independently.
Ability to navigate unpredictable schedules and time‑sensitive demands.
Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and reliability.
Adaptability to shifting court calendars and client needs.
Flexibility to travel to local courthouses as needed.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
Trial experience.
Work Location & Schedule (Hybrid Arrangement):
1–2 days per week in our Chicago office for team integration.
2-3 days per week in our Highland Park office, depending on workload and court schedules.
Flexibility for remote work from home.
Target Salary Range: $175,000 - $200,000. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors including but not limited to experience and training, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This role will also be eligible for an annual discretionary variable incentive bonus.
