Sands Anderson, a full-service, mid-sized law firm serving Virginia and North Carolina, is growing in Durham, NC. With more than 80 attorneys across 6 offices, we provide trusted legal guidance in key areas including Education, Local Government, Business Law, and Litigation Defense. We are seeking an experienced Local Government attorney to help us expand and serve in our growing Durham office.
We are looking for an attorney who understands the inner workings of public schools and school boards K-12 and who is ready to make a meaningful impact in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill region.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Active member of the North Carolina State Bar
Three or more years of experience practicing Education Law North Carolina
Existing relationships or experience with school boards in the area is a plus
Your Role
Advise school board clients on legal matters including Title IX, workplace investigations, education and special education matters
Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, and legal opinions
Represent school boards in administrative and due process proceedings
Collaborate with attorneys and staff across offices to deliver integrated legal services
