Your Impact
The Cooling and Power Area Manager oversees the day-to-day operations, safety and quality, performance management, and on-site efficiency for HVAC and generator technicians servicing mission-critical infrastructure. This role ensures field execution, technical service quality, team development, inventory management, and coordination with internal support functions. The Area Manager acts as the field management backbone of the region, enabling field success and customer satisfaction through structured oversight and coaching. Our Area Managers are measured on Safety, Quality and Efficiency of their teams. This area manager will support work in the Ann Arbor/Lansing, MI area.
Core Responsibilities
Lead HVAC, Generator, and our Alloy (cross-trained) technicians in a designated area.
Conduct quarterly ride-alongs with each technician for skill assessment, coaching, and performance documentation, planning each ride-along to provide optimal mentoring. Each ride-along consists of pre-planning, two stops, and written feedback.
Work with the Scheduling team to review escalations that may affect on-time delivery, site access, weather events, and scheduling after parts are received. Manage work schedules and on call schedules.
Work with the regional Workforce Load Admin to determine traveling technician needs.
Review all Work Orders with the status of more time required to ensure the techs have what they need to complete them in a timely manner.
Assist the customer success team with onboarding new subcontractors as needed.
Work with the Operations Fleet Specialist to ensure technicians have a working vehicle at all times.
Ensure all employees have the proper PPE, tools, and trucks are stocked properly.
Use existing inventory reports to improve stocking decisions and reduce excess
DWR review on a sampling of recently completed PMs and Repairs. Record your feedback to give on site with the tech.
Conduct final interviews with new technician candidates.
Work closely with both HR and Ops onboarding teams to ensure a smooth onboarding experience for all new hires.
Coordinate or conduct in-field training for new hires.
Core Experience
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, generators, and associated electrical/mechanical components.
Experience managing field teams in a high-performance, customer-driven environment.
Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and adherence to OSHA, EPA standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Physical/Work Environment

Ability to travel extensively and work varied hours, including emergencies and weekends.
Ability to lift over 50 lbs, work in varied conditions, and safely navigate active job sites.

Base Pay Range
$90,000 - $120,000 USD
