<div style="text-align: justify;">Performs responsible clerical accounting duties requiring some analysis and independent judgment in the application of routine posting, calculation and verification procedures to create and maintain financial records within the limits of an established accounting system.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Graduation from High School plus two (2) years of work experience in a financial or payroll environment or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Note: College courses in accounting, finance or business management may be substituted for up to one year of work experience with 30 credits in related course work equal to one year of work experience.</div><br><div style="text-align: justify;" data-pasted="true"><strong>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</strong>:<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Working knowledge of bookkeeping and/or payroll procedures and practices, standard office methods and procedures, budgetary accounting practices, and the use of electronic equipment.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Skilled in the use of a personal computer utilizing word processing and spreadsheet software and various industry-specific equipment and programs.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Skilled in office conduct, attending work regularly, presenting a groomed appearance, &nbsp;arriving and departing on time.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ability to make computations with speed and accuracy, to handle monetary transactions accountably and to maintain payroll and accounting records.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ability to perform basic reconciliations and prepare payroll and financial reports.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and to make oral and written reports.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ability to organize and coordinate work.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with professionals, fellow employees, public officials and the general public, handling inquiries with courtesy and tact.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ability to operate standard office equipment and to perform the physical requirements of the position.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ability to maintain confidentiality.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Willingness to accept monetary responsibility.<br>&nbsp;</div><strong><em>Exam Plan: Pass/Fail Computer Skills Test</em></strong><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Bargaining Status:</strong> GMEA<br><strong>Salary Range</strong>: G-E</div><strong>FLSA:</strong> Non-Exempt<br><br><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>ESSENTIAL FEATURES</strong>:<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Collects and handles cash related to department or division transactions; responsible for receipt, accounting and deposit of funds received. May transport cash funds and checks to financial facilities. Inputs transactions, verifies payments and balances receipts. Identifies discrepancies and resolves them.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Classifies and/or codes transactions to appropriate accounts; posts disbursements by funds and banks; reconciles statements from banks where funds are deposited; prepares reports and maintains filing system.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Receives, records and deposits revenues following standardized procedures.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Prepares vendor checks, maintaining vendor check register and supporting documents.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Performs specialized billing or accounting procedures using industry-specific software.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Prepares and maintains monthly, quarterly and annual statements and reports as required.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Responds to inquiries from the public providing high level of customer satisfaction; handles customer complaints, providing follow-up as needed for resolution.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Assists the public with forms and statements, ensuring adherence to department standards and procedures. Explains policies and procedures and resolves disputes with courtesy and tact.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Maintains responsibility for weekly and bi-weekly payroll, employee files and earning records including time and leave records.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Performs related work as assigned.<br>&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><undefined><strong style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" data-pasted="true">All positions may be subject to an interview process. &nbsp;The Town reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be invited to participate.<br><br><strong style=" font-weight: 700; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0px;">All outside candidates will be required to undertake and successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test that includes testing for THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana), given at the Town's expense prior to employment if conditionally offered a part time, full time or safety sensitive position.</strong>&nbsp;<br><br>The Town of Greenwich has implemented a policy of background investigations for all full and part time positions positions prior to hiring as part of the reference checking procedures for outside candidates. The investigation will only be conducted as the last step prior to an offer. Refusal to sign the release form will terminate the candidate's further consideration.</strong><br></undefined>
