Purpose Responsible for leading the structural engineering function of assigned business unit. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance. Provide oversight and direction of department or business unit including strategy, budgeting, staff, and deliverables. At the Operational and Company Level Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements. Act as advisor to engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Market the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships. Do the Work Hire, train, retain, and develop engineering staff. Oversee all projects in the department to ensure that the work is executed on time and on budget and in accordance with the client's requirements and within company policies and procedures. Provide work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff. Serve as technical advisor by providing senior level input and evaluation on projects. Develop and evaluate criteria for project plans. Write proposals and price projects for review by management. Approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases. Verify specifications for use in engineering design and development. Review status reports, recognize and address discrepancies. Perform field investigations or inspections. Serve as liaison with other disciplines on multi-discipline
