Purpose Lead in performing and tracking daily inspection of construction work on a variety of roadway projects. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction Perform work under limited supervision. Receive direction on complex assignments with general guidance on execution. Work is generally reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance. At the Operational and Company Level Assist in the maintenance of existing client relationships. Do the Work Review reports, direct duties, and train all project inspectors. Travel to various project sites to conduct inspection and testing duties. Follow standard procedures and specifications for documentation and inspection of construction activities. Read, interpret, and ensure compliance with construction plans, specifications, and contracts. Complete daily calculating, reporting, documenting, and communicating verbally and in writing. Compute quantities for items such as concrete, asphalt, steel, earthwork, drainage structures, and traffic control devices. Operate company vehicle, computer, and testing equipment. Coordinate construction progress and resolve issues with engineers, contractors, utilities, and government officials. Document field changes and as-built plans. Assist project engineer with progress payments, diaries, and material test reports. Work in an office or outdoor environment in varying weather conditions as required by the project type. Perform and review material testing of concrete, asphalt and aggregates. Confirm materials adhere to specifications. Inspect and verify construction work in process to ensure compliance.
