Burke, Williams & Sorensen is a full-service law firm with deep expertise in public law and municipal representation, advising cities, counties, special districts, and other public agencies throughout California. We are seeking an associate with a minimum of 5–7 years of transactional municipal experience to join our expanding Public Law team. The ideal candidate will have: Significant experience advising public agency clients on transactional matters Excellent writing, research, drafting, and analytical skills Strong work ethic, self-starter, and team-oriented mindset Ability to manage matters independently and interface directly with public officials and staff Admission to the State Bar of California The associate will be expected to: Draft and negotiate public works contracts, professional services agreements, development agreements, joint powers agreements, and other municipal transactional documents Advise public agency clients regarding compliance with public contracting requirements, open meeting laws, conflict of interest regulations, and related statutory frameworks Prepare staff reports, resolutions, ordinances, and related agenda materials Attend and present at city council, board, and commission meetings as needed Assist with procurement processes, including drafting and reviewing RFPs and bid documents Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas on matters involving land use, real estate, infrastructure, and regulatory compliance The anticipated base salary range for this full-time role is $170,000 – $206,000 plus annual performance-based bonuses. The actual salary within that range will depend on the selected candidate’s years of practice and experience. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
